The government of Anambra State has given approval for a collaborative effort with the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) to organize the society's 99th Annual National Conference, which is set to begin on November 3, 2026.
The collaboration took place during an official visit by the PSN leaders at the Light House, (Government House), Awka, where the state administration pledged to offer full logistical and infrastructural assistance, emphasizing the protection and preparation of top-tier locations to guarantee the event's achievement.
The formal declaration was issued by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, with assistance from his Chief of Staff, Dr. Ben Nwankwo.
On behalf of the Governor, Dr. Nwankwo conveyed the state's deep appreciation for being chosen as the venue for this esteemed national event, highlighting that the government is completely ready to present Anambra's growing modern facilities and leisure developments, inviting attendees to explore key state initiatives like the Solution Fun City and the Anambra State Country Club.
The authorities emphasized the cultural significance of the conference theme, Ijele 2026, pointing out that the Ijele—an emblematic and impressive mask with strong ties to Igbo traditions—represents splendor, authority, and a significant influence.
He pointed out that to ensure smooth implementation, the Anambra State Government will promptly establish a specialized Local Organizing Committee (LOC) to operate closely under the direction of the PSN’s national administration.
During his speech, the National President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, conveyed sincere gratitude to Governor Soludo for granting him an opportunity to speak and praised the leadership approach of the administration.
PSN leaders particularly commended the Governor for his financial responsibility and wise allocation of resources, innovative administration and transformation of the public sector, active expansion of infrastructure throughout the state, and strong economic plans aimed at drawing in private funding.
Pharm. Ibrahim pointed out that choosing Anambra State as the location for the event demonstrates the complete trust of Nigeria's pharmaceutical industry in the state's plan for industrial growth, improvements in health care, development of skilled personnel, and a business-supportive environment. He also mentioned that this gathering acts as an important prelude to the PSN's future hundredth anniversary, which will celebrate a century of professional activity since its founding in 1927.
The 99th Annual National Conference is anticipated to be among the biggest professional events in the West African region, expecting around five thousand attendees, including pharmacists, pharmacy scientists, health care workers, decision-makers, financiers, regulatory officials, along with more than 300 pharmaceutical companies, suppliers, wholesalers, and support services.
