Breaking: Fanu Reappointed LASU Registrar; Governing Council Approves Yusuf as Bursar

The Leadership Committee of Lagos State University held an urgent session on Wednesday, June 10th, 2026, and gave approval for the renewal of

Mr Emmanuel Fanu MANUPA, MNIM, as Register and Secretary of the Council.

The Board additionally ratified the latest designation of

Mr Olabisi Yusuf The FCA, serving as Bursar of the University.

As per an official statement issued by Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, Deputy Registrar and Head of the Centre for Information and Public Relations at Nigeria’s leading university, these two appointments will commence on Thursday, 2nd July 2026, and last for a duration of four years.

In 1999, Mr. Fanu began his career at Lagos State University as an Administrative Officer II and progressively advanced within the organization after more than twenty years of committed work.

He acted as Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council from June 2021 until February 2022, following which he was officially appointed to the role in June 2022.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education (1996), a Master of Public Administration (2005), and a Law Diploma, all obtained from Lagos State University.

An experienced university official, Fanu has received funding from the British Council, the United States Information Service (USIS), and the Lagos State Government to attend local and global conferences focused on higher education leadership and governance.

Mr. Yusuf contributes more than twenty years of expertise in financial administration to the position of University Bursar.

He began his career at Lagos State University in 2006 as a Principal Accountant at the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), moving up through significant roles such as Chief Accountant, Deputy Bursar, and Head of Operations within the University Bursary.

Recently, he held the position of Deputy Bursar, overseeing Treasury Services and acting as a Project Accountant at the Africa Centre of Excellence for Innovative and Transformative STEM Education (ACEITSE).

Yusuf has earned an HND, a bachelor's degree, and a master's degree in Accounting.

He holds the status of a Fellow with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).

His work in the university's financial management, treasury activities, budget planning, and handling of projects supported by donors has received broad recognition.

He will take over from Mr. Said Babatunde *OLAYINKA,* FCA, whose term concludes on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Each appointment was made after a rigorous interview process held on Wednesday, June 10th, 2026.
